Dolores Thomas

Dolores E. Thomas (nee: Hood), a.k.a. Grandma “D”, passed away quietly at home surrounded by her loving family on March 12, 2012. She just celebrated her 91st birthday. She was born in Fort Dodge, Iowa, on Feb. 17, 1921, and graduated from Corpus Christi Academy in 1939. Dolores did her nursing training in Clinton, Iowa, and later cadet nurses’ training with the Veterans Army Hospital during WWII. She worked as a Registered Nurse at Lower Bucks Hospital, and as the Night Shift Nurse at Nabisco in Phila. from which she retired in 1986. Dolores married Lloyd L. Thomas in 1950 who preceded her in death in 1992. They moved their family to PA in 1963 and spent the next 49 years residing in Levittown. She was the loving mother to Christine M. (Jay) Abrams of CA, Thomas L. Thomas of Levittown, and Vincent W. (Danielle) Thomas of Levittown. She was also the loving grandmother to June D. Thomas of Levittown, Aaron C. Abrams of CA, Vincent L. Thomas of CA, Nathaniel D. Malaney, Nicholas P. Malaney of Bensalem, and William V. Abrams of CA. Dolores was a devoted Roman Catholic and long-time parishioner of Immaculate Conception Church in Levittown. She belonged to the Bristol Twp. Senior Citizens Assoc. and loved playing Bingo and going to Atlantic City casinos. She enjoyed sewing and crafting, and was an avid reader. She was preceded in death by her parents, George & Agnes Hood. She is survived by her brother Monsignor Mervin Hood of Iowa and sister Lavonne (Harold) Keppers residing in Iowa; and also many nephews and nieces.
