Anthony “Tony” Salerno, age 91, passed away September 30, 2011, at Langhorne Gardens. He was born in Tullytown and spent most of his life in Bristol Borough. He was a retiree of Rohm & Haas, and after 39 years took an early retirement to care for his loving wife; after which he returned to work with various businesses such as Simon & Schuster, and Caulkins Publications until age 86. He was a WWII Army veteran who served with the 3046 Ord Base Auto Maint Co. in the Asiatic Pacific. He enjoyed the casinos, playing the lottery, as well as crossword puzzles. He was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, and good friend. Tony was a very caring, loving, and generous man who was an avid Phillies fan. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers William and Gaspar Salerno; and the love of his life, his wife, Emma (nee: Mazzanti). He will be greatly missed by his children Ann Judge, Anthony J. Salerno and his wife Barbara, and Robert Salerno with whom he resided. He is the loving grandfather of Tara, Kelly, Marty, Kristin, and Jacqui; and 5 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Benedicta Salerno; a brother-in-law and best friend Vincent Mazzanti Sr.; sisters-in-law Rose and Margaret Salerno and Anita Mazzanti; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, especially Yolanda LaSalle and Joseph and Lilly Caucci whom he had a great love and appreciation for in assisting in the care provided for his wife. Relatives and friends are invited to call Monday, 7-9pm, and Tuesday, 8:30-9:30am, at the Galzerano Funeral Home, 430 Radcliffe Street, Bristol. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, 10am, at St. Ann Church. Burial will follow in Bristol Cemetery. Donations may be made to Multiple Sclerosis Society, 30 South 17th Street, Phila., PA 19103. The family wishes to thank the staff at Aria Torresdale Health and Caring Hospice Service and Langhorne Gardens for the compassion and care they showed.
