Lawrence “Larry” E. Tamanini, age 63, passed away peacefully, after a long and courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was born and raised in Bristol Borough, and was a graduate of Pierce Business School. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and served during the Vietnam War as a Staff Sergeant. Larry was known as “The Voice” and was a long time radio talk show host promoting Italian American Heritage. He received the “Knight of Goodness Award” given by the Italian American Press Association. He was also a member of U.N.I.C.O. National and a recipient of U.N.I.C.O.’s “Mille Grazie” award for continuing to foster a positive image of Italian Americans. He had a great love of jazz and supported the Philadelphia Jazz community and the many jazz musicians associated with his son’s music career. He will be greatly missed by his family, as well as many loving and faithful friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Edward J. and Anna Tamanini. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife Vivian (nee: Stallone) of over 40 years; his son Lawrence E. Tamanini IV and his fiancée Marguerite Colton; his brothers Edward Tamanini and his wife Betty Ann and Jack Tamanini; his sisters Dolores Bareuther and her husband William, and Rosemary Katherine and her husband John. He is also survived by brothers-in-law Joseph Stallone and his wife Patricia, and Vincent Stallone and his wife Peg; sisters-in-law Angela Ely, Dorothy Bailey and her husband Edward, and Pauline Stallone Danis; and many nieces, nephews, and loving friends. Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing Wed., 9-11:45am, at the Galzerano Funeral Home, 430 Radcliffe St., Bristol, followed by his religious services at 11:45am in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sol Goldman Pancreatic Cancer Research Center c/o Dr. Ralph Hruban, John Hopkins Medical Institution, 401 North Broadway, Weinberg 2242, Baltimore, MD 21231.
