John Albert Clarke, age 81, of Levittown, PA, passed away on May 19, 2011, at home surrounded by his family. Born and raised in Wilkes-Barre, PA, he has been a resident of Levittown for over 50 years. In his high school years, he was known as “Bull Clarke”, president of his graduating class (Coughlin High), as well as captain of their football team. After graduating in 1948, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp. and served in Korea until he was blinded by wounds received in action. After coming home, he, without sight, graduated from Rutgers University. After graduation, he was employed with the Blinded Veterans Association as a field service representative; traveling to New York and the mid-Atlantic states. He eventually retired from the recorder of deeds office in the Bucks County Court House in Doylestown. Mr. Clarke was a former coach for Levittown National Little League Baseball and 7th Ward Basketball Organization. He also served as an officer in the Woodrow Wilson Rams Touchdown Club. He is the son of the late Albert and Mary Clark; and father of his recently deceased loving daughter Debby Clarke. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 57 years Lois (Shaw) Clarke; his son Ron (Ruthann), and his daughter Pam Clarke Cashin (Thomas). He will also be missed by his adoring granddaughters Leanne and Kimberly Clarke, and Sara and Ashley Cashin. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Monday, 6pm, at the Galzerano Funeral Home, 3500 Bristol-Oxford Valley Road in Levittown. Funeral services will begin at 8pm in the funeral home. Interment will be conducted privately at Washington Crossing National Cemetery.
