Alexander Frank Cornacchione passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, April 23, 2011, a week after a fall from his doorstep. Alex was born and raised on Pond Street in Bristol Borough. At age 15, he lost his sister, then 6 months later he lost his father. He then went to work to help support his mother Lucia until he entered the U.S. Army as a Radar Operator in WWII, and served proudly with the 596th Signal Air Warning Battalion in New Guinea and the Philippines. He was awarded the WWII Victory Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with 1 Bronze Star, and the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal with 3 Bronze Stars. After WWII he worked at Kaiser Metal in Bristol for 17 years, and later worked as a carpenter, and in maintenance, at Adyin Vector. He and his wife Grace (nee: Antolino) were very happily married for 47 years before her passing in 2001. He will always be remembered for his love and dedication to his family. He is survived by his son, and caregiver, Vincent Cornacchione with whom he resided; his daughter Lucille Giagnacova and her husband Albert and their children Dr. Albert Giagnacova III, and Nancy O’Neil and her husband Rob; and his son Phillip Cornacchione and his daughters Alexia and Diana Grace. Family and friends may attend a Memorial Service Thursday, April 28, 10am, at St. Ann Church. In honoring his last wishes, interment in St. Mark Cemetery will be private under the direction of the Galzerano Funeral Home.
