Dean D. Tidd, age 93, passed away peacefully on Feb. 7, 2011, at Attleboro Nursing & Rehabilitation. Born and raised in Roundhead, OH, on his family’s farm in Hardin Co., (where it’s been a homestead farm and is now a biological research station for Ohio Northern University which was willed by his family to them) he moved here to the newly formed area in 1952 to work and raise his family. He was a retiree of U.S. Steel Co. where he worked for 30 years in the Locomotive & Car Shop. He was a U.S. Army Veteran who always served in Special Orders beginning with the Calvary, was involved in the Pacific theatre, and finished with the Corp. of Engineers. He was an avid reader, history buff, enjoyed playing golf, and was passionate about family genealogy. He had a strong sense of integrity, was mechanically inclined, constantly repairing and fixing things, and was the greatest story-teller. He was a very caring, loving, strong-willed husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend. He was preceded in death by his parents Hollister & Myrtle Tidd; his brother Paul; and 3 sisters Helen, Margaret, and Wanda. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 68 years Florence (nee: Hines). He is the devoted father of Randy Tidd and his wife Kevin and Denise McIntire and her husband Pat; and the loving grandfather of Bryan, Eric, Kathryn, and Ceilidh; and great grandfather of Joshua. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins. Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing Friday, 6-8pm, at Galzerano Funeral Home, 3500 Bristol-Oxford Valley Road and Sat., 9-10am, at Harriman Methodist Church, 1700 Wilson Avenue, Bristol, PA, where services will begin 10am at the church. Burial will follow in Rosedale Cemetery. The family requests donations be made to Hardin Co. Genealogical Society, 211 W. Franklin St., P.O. Box 520, Kenton, OH 43326.
